Time Management - 10 Top Reasons for Becoming an Expert

Self Improvement, Time Management No Comments »

Why are so many people looking for better ways to manage their time?

Students and professionals from all walks of life are spending countless hours and millions of dollars on ways to become better organized and more productive.

From Day Planners, PDA’s, Cell Phones and a multitude of paper and electronic devices, people are working at becoming experts at managing their time. So what’s the big fuss? Why is it so important to monitor how we spend our time?

Good Questions.

For the present, I will look at it from just my perspective.

I do consider myself to be an avid believer in the importance of the good management of my time.
I, for one, use a dayplanner seven days a week, even on my days off.

Why?

Does this sound like you, or am I being overly obsessive?
I just don’t like the idea of coming to the end of my day with a feeling that I had not accomplished anything. I get a terrible feeling that I was somehow cheated and that I have in someway cheated others.

Anyway,
If I was asked to list the 10 main reasons why I choose to become a time management expert, they would be (in no particular order):

1. It helps me focus on what is most important.
2. It ensures that I don’t miss anything that I want to accomplish.
3. It allows me to prioritize my activities.
4. It keeps me from becoming scattered.
5. It keeps me from procrastination.
6. It allows me to experience accomplishment when a task is completed.
7. It keeps me from wasting valuable time.
8. It keeps me from loosing important information
9. It forces me to establish ownership of a project, by writing it down.
10. It helps me to set direction for the following day.

I am sure you can add to the list.

Go ahead, be my guest. I would love to hear from you.
I will go more in depth during the month of May, to further explore each of these as they relate to the mastery of time.

Time Management Expert - How Will it Feel to Become an Expert?

Self Improvement, Time Management No Comments »

I’ve heard the phrase, and now have come to strongly agree that, “We are best motivated to do something, by focusing on the reward, not the process.”
The process of doing anything that is difficult or demanding, is terrible. Nobody wants to go through all the sweat and drills that go along with becoming a success at their chosen field. So it’s important to stay focused, lest you find it easier to quit and give up on your goals.

So too, with attempting to become an expert, there are things that have to be done. There are things that must be avoided. There are certain people that will unknowingly keep you from progressing in your journey. There will be times when becoming an expert just seems too hard. There will be times when the obstacles will seem so great, that you may not even want to continue. The people, the places and everthing surrounding you may seem to be working against you.

My advice here. Stay the course. Know that you will succeed if only you can keep moving forward.

Try to feel what it will be like to finally be in control of your time. Your stress will be less, your productivity will be much increased, and your rewards and sucess will far outway you efforts expended.

Maybe you’ll just have to trust me at first, but follow me next month. Join the “May Challenge.”

I am confident that you and I will grow closer to becoming proficient with managing our time.
It is my wish that our lives will be changed. We will no longer waste time, but instead, we will become the true experts.

Become an expert. One month crash course. Learn the Secrets. Guaranteed.

That’s a pretty tall order, especially in 31 Days. Maybe a more accurate title might be, “Aspiring to become an expert, your first step.”

Let’s first examine what A TIME MANAGEMENT EXPERT would look like:

* You would be, the best of the best
* You would know, most everything there is to know on the subject
* Others would come to you when they had questions or needed advice
* Other professionals would recognize you as a leader in your field
* You could provide credentials to prove you are, who you claim to be.

Am I an Expert?

Good question.

Am I an Expert?

I can honestly and emphatically tell you,

Absolutely not !

I do not claim to be an expert, I do not have all the answers, and “I can only aspire to becoming“, that which I am not. Becoming a Time Management Expert takes years of practice and dedication. If you believe that I, or any individual is capable of teaching you all that you need to learn in one month’s time, you may as well unsubscribe, click away, and return to fantasy island.

What I would like to share with you, are ways that have helped me, and ways that have helped others like you and I, “on the journey to becoming” a Time Management Expert.

It may be appropriate to call on my fave- five companions, (Who, What, When, Where and How), to assist me in my search for mastery. I know they can help point me in the right direction.

1. WHO are the masters of time management?
2. WHAT are the steps I need to follow to become an expert?
3. WHEN will I know I am making progress? and some of the benchmarks along the way?
4. WHERE can I go for additional help?
5. HOW do I stay the course? and HOW do I manage to stay balanced in the other areas of my life at the same time?

You Can Do It ! - The April Challenge

April is and has always been my favorite month. It begins the season of planting and ushers in the springtime, the season of new life and new possibilities.

After a cold winter, I’m always excited about starting new projects and planning new adventures in the impending warmer weather.

Shake off your slumber, open your senses, and wake up to the possibilities that are sprouting up all around you. It’s time to start listening to your inner self. What is it, that is really important to you? Stop relying on others to make life or career changes for you. Step up, and step out in front of the crowd and make your statement to the world.

This is who I am. This is how I am unique. This is why and where I am, at this particular time in my life. Be the person who you know you should be, and open yourself to the possibility of change, if you are so inclined.

Time has a way of passing without notice, if we don’t protect it.
Time has a way of controlling our lives, if we don’t manage it properly.
Time has a way of leading us in circles, if we don’t prioritize our goals.

Lucky for us, we were designed to be more than a product of time.
We were hardwired to be achievers.

We are programmed for success.

Valuing our time,

places us in a mindset to search out ways to become our greatest selves.

Managing our time,

puts us in a position to achieve all that we believe is possible.

Giving freely of our time,

helps us not only gather greatness for ourselves, but also allows others to succeed, grow and develop.

I challenge you to “be the change.”

Time shall not have mastery over you.

I know you can do it.

You know you can do it.

Be the change in your life, and the lives of others.
